Lectionary Theme: Easter Great Lent Ends ; Resurrection: Victory over death

    1. The hand of the Lord came upon me, and he brought me out by the spirit of the Lord and set me down in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones.

    2. He led me all around them; there were very many lying in the valley, and they were very dry.

    3. He said to me, “Mortal, can these bones live?” I answered, “O Lord God, you know.”

    4. Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them: O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.

    5. Thus says the Lord God to these bones: I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live.

    6. I will lay sinews on you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live; and you shall know that I am the Lord.”

    7. So I prophesied as I had been commanded; and as I prophesied, suddenly there was a noise, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone.

    8. I looked, and there were sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them; but there was no breath in them.

    9. Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, mortal, and say to the breath: Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.”

    10. I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood on their feet, a vast multitude.

    11. Then he said to me, “Mortal, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are cut off completely.’

    12. Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: I am going to open your graves, and bring you up from your graves, O my people; and I will bring you back to the land of Israel.

    13. And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves, and bring you up from your graves, O my people.

    14. I will put my spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you on your own soil; then you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken and will act, says the Lord.” The Two Sticks

    20. But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have died.

    21. For since death came through a human being, the resurrection of the dead has also come through a human being;

    22. for as all die in Adam, so all will be made alive in Christ.

    23. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ.

    24. Then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father, after he has destroyed every ruler and every authority and power.

    25. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.

    26. The last enemy to be destroyed is death.

    27. For “God has put all things in subjection under his feet.” But when it says, “All things are put in subjection,” it is plain that this does not include the one who put all things in subjection under him.

    28. When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to the one who put all things in subjection under him, so that God may be all in all.

    1. What should we say then? Should we keep on sinning so that God’s grace can increase?

    2. Not at all! As far as sin is concerned, we are dead. So how can we keep on sinning?

    3. All of us were baptized into Christ Jesus. Don’t you know that we were baptized into his death?

    4. By being baptized, we were buried with Christ into his death. Christ has been raised from the dead by the Father’s glory. And like Christ we also can live a new life.

    5. By being baptized, we have been joined with him in a death like his. So we will certainly also be joined with him in a resurrection like his.

    6. We know that what we used to be was nailed to the cross with him. That happened so our bodies that were ruled by sin would lose their power. So we are no longer slaves of sin.

    7. That’s because those who have died have been set free from sin.

    8. We died with Christ. So we believe that we will also live with him.

    9. We know that Christ was raised from the dead and will never die again. Death doesn’t control him anymore.

    10. When he died, he died once and for all time. He did this to break the power of sin. Now that he lives, he lives in the power of God.

    11. In the same way, consider yourselves to be dead as far as sin is concerned. Now you believe in Christ Jesus. So consider yourselves to be alive as far as God is concerned.

    1. ശബ്ബത്തു കഴിഞ്ഞശേഷം മഗ്ദലക്കാരത്തി മറിയയും യാക്കോബിന്റെ അമ്മ മറിയയും ശലോമയും ചെന്നു അവനെ പൂശേണ്ടതിന്നു സുഗന്ധവർഗ്ഗം വാങ്ങി.

    1. When the sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him.

    2. ആഴ്ചവട്ടത്തിന്റെ ഒന്നാം നാൾ അതികാലത്തു സൂര്യൻ ഉദിച്ചപ്പോൾ അവർ കല്ലറെക്കൽ ചെന്നു:

    2. And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb.

    3. കല്ലറയുടെ വാതിൽക്കൽ നിന്നു നമുക്കു വേണ്ടി ആർ കല്ലു ഉരുട്ടിക്കളയും എന്നു തമ്മിൽ പറഞ്ഞു.

    3. They had been saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?”

    4. അവർ നോക്കിയാറെ കല്ലു ഉരുട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞതായി കണ്ടു; അതു ഏറ്റവും വലുതായിരുന്നു.

    4. When they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled back.

    5. അവർ കല്ലറെക്കകത്തു കടന്നപ്പോൾ വെള്ളനിലയങ്കി ധരിച്ച ഒരു ബാല്യക്കാരൻ വലത്തു ഭാഗത്തു ഇരിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിച്ചു.

    5. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man, dressed in a white robe, sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed.

    6. But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Look, there is the place they laid him.

    6. അവൻ അവരോടു: ഭ്രമിക്കേണ്ടാ; ക്രൂശിക്കപ്പെട്ട നസറായനായ യേശുവിനെ നിങ്ങൾ അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; അവൻ ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റു; അവൻ ഇവിടെ ഇല്ല; അവനെ വെച്ച സ്ഥലം ഇതാ.

    7. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, just as he told you.”

    7. നിങ്ങൾ പോയി അവന്റെ ശിഷ്യന്മാരോടും പത്രൊസിനോടും: അവൻ നിങ്ങൾക്കു മുമ്പെ ഗലീലെക്കു പോകുന്നു എന്നു പറവിൻ; അവൻ നിങ്ങളോടു പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ അവിടെ അവനെ കാണും എന്നു പറവിൻ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

    8. അവർക്കു വിറയലും ഭ്രമവും പിടിച്ചു അവർ കല്ലറ വിട്ടു ഓടിപ്പോയി; അവർ ഭയപ്പെടുകയാൽ ആരോടും ഒന്നും പറഞ്ഞില്ല.

    8. So they went out and fled from the tomb, for terror and amazement had seized them; and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid. The Shorter Ending of Mark [[And all that had been commanded them they told briefly to those around Peter. And afterward Jesus himself sent out through them, from east to west, the sacred and imperishable proclamation of eternal salvation.]] The Longer Ending of Mark Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene

    9. [അവൻ ആഴ്ചവട്ടത്തിന്റെ ഒന്നാം നാൾ രാവിലെ ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റിട്ടു താൻ ഏഴു ഭൂതങ്ങളെ പുറത്താക്കിയിരുന്ന മഗദലക്കാരത്തി മറിയെക്കു ആദ്യം പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി.

    9. [[Now after he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.

    10. അവൾ ചെന്നു അവനോടുകൂടെ ഇരുന്നവരായി ദുഃഖിച്ചും കരഞ്ഞുംകൊണ്ടിരുന്നവരോടു അറിയിച്ചു.

    10. She went out and told those who had been with him, while they were mourning and weeping.

    11. അവൻ ജീവനോടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നും അവൾ അവനെ കണ്ടു എന്നും അവർ കേട്ടാറെ വിശ്വസിച്ചില്ല.

    11. But when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they would not believe it. Jesus Appears to Two Disciples
